A starting point for your sound
BandName.io is a free creative toolkit for musicians, new bands, and anyone trying to put a name to a musical project. It brings together a band name generator, genre-specific tools, a browsable collection of 520 name ideas, and practical naming guides.
The aim is to give you something useful to react to. Generate a batch, say the names aloud, save the ones that fit, and compare them with the people you make music with. The final choice belongs to you.
How the generator makes names
The tools combine local word lists with naming templates. Genre, starting letter, word count, keywords, and the personality slider influence the results. Each batch contains ten distinct suggestions. The naming work happens in your browser without sending a request to a naming service.
This is a rule-based generator. The AI band name generator page is clearly labeled as an alternative; it does not run an AI model. You do not need an account, a subscription, or credits to generate names.
A shortlist you control
Favorites stay in the browser where you save them. You can copy your shortlist or export it as a text file. A shared link records the seed and settings for a batch, so someone else can see the same ten names. Your saved favorites are not included in that link.
The privacy policy explains local storage, shared URLs, and what happens when you open an external search link.
Ideas still need a real-world check
A generated name or an entry in the ideas collection is a suggestion, not a verified available artist name. We do not reserve names, register domains, or establish trademark rights. Two people can receive the same suggestion.
The band name checker provides links to domain records and music or social searches. It does not return a live availability verdict. Use it as part of your research before putting a name on releases, artwork, or merchandise.
